379 Passo 1 “You are created for joy” with Mary, the cause of our joy Here we are, en route to WYD! In this first step, let us take the time to reconsider the basis of every human life: our relationship to God, the source of true joy. What are the essential foundations of this relationship? 1. Your Word is a light unto my path The Gospel according to Saint Luke 1:28-31; 45-48 The Angel Gabriel came to Mary said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” (Luke 1:28-31) When Mary went to visit Elizabeth, her cousin said to her: “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.” (Luke 1:45-48) 2.
