Creation In the beginning, God created everything. God said: “Let there be heaven and earth.” And he saw that it was good. God said: “Let there be lights for night and day: the sun, the moon, and the stars.” And he saw that it was good. He said: “Let there be light!” And he saw that it was good.

Noah’s Ark Mankind had turned away from God. People were acting very badly. There was only one good man; his name was Noah. God asked Noah to build an ark, a large boat, to hold his family and two of every kind of animal and bird. Then God sent rain for forty days and forty nights. Water covered everything! Only Noah’s ark floated above the water. God sent a rainbow as a sign of his promise of love for ever—

Abraham, God’s Friend Abraham was a friend of God. He listened to the Lord and trusted him. One day, God asked Abraham to leave his country for a new land. Abraham obeyed and set out with his family. God told Abraham that he wanted to make a covenant, a pact, with him. Every time God asked Abraham to do something, Abraham said yes with all his heart—even if he didn’t understand, even if the task was very, very hard. The Lord kept his promises to Abraham. For the Lord always keeps his promises.
