Journey into the mystery of the Eucharist with the world's most visited work of art, second only to da Vinci's Mona Lisa!

The Ghent Altarpiece, also known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, is one of the greatest masterpieces of European painting. After da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, it is the world’s second most visited work of art, and no wonder—it leaves viewers breathless as they experience its sublime beauty and panoramic biblical scope. Painted in the 15th century by brothers Jan and Hubert Van Eyck, the story of its preservation and survival—despite the efforts of time and tyrants to destroy it—is almost as fascinating as the pictorial tale it weaves while pointing us to the salvation offered through the Eucharistic sacrifice it so vividly depicts.

The stunningly beautiful full-page photographs provide detailed views of the painting that are barely visible to the naked eye. Author Fabrice Hadjadj’s down-to-earth interpretive style takes the reader on an adventure through the Mystic Lamb’s rich theological landscape, injecting life into the images and shedding light on the fascinating story of its creation. The Spirit so obviously permeating this irreplaceable treasure will stir both ardent believers and art enthusiasts alike.
